it's been a whole 2 weeks, but i think i'm still reeling from my birthday.
yes, i knew about the surprise. but no, i did not know where, when, or if it was still going to happen because it was known that i knew about the surprise. and no, i definitely did not expect that many people to be there in one place for silly old me. the few seconds i spent scanning kuya dre's living room in awe and appreciation for every face i saw will stick with me for the rest of my life.
so thank you justin, katrina, and kuya dre, for planning and hosting what will always be one of the best days of my life. thanks to the other 3 readers who read this for being there and contributing to the gathering because your presence was what made the day so great.
another reason why i didn't really see the surprise coming was because i had such a good day of my actual birthday. two of my co-workers (yes, only 2, in case you think i exaggerate how antisocial i am on this blog) took me to eat pho for lunch, and my big sis in advertising jiwon met up even though she no longer works with us. then at night i received perfect gifts from my roomates and the BCF, had thai food with my best friends from ucla, tiffcong, BCF/BCFG, and then drank way more than i normally do at my apartment.
the friday after my birthday was the longest f'ing day of work ever. i still regret going into the office that day.
the next weekend oozed awesomeness as well. katrina and i dominated a 4lb. lobster at Newport Seafood in the 626. highly recommended if you want lots of lobster for a reasonable price.
saturday me and the BCF stopped by rick's charming little suite at the Half Moon Inn and shared some laughs with my boys. and then we celebrated the 22nd birthday of my brother at Onyx.
now there's a lot of things about my brother that i'm proud of. prom king. UCI. holding down summer jobs. and now i get to add throwing up on a club's bar and somehow gathering the testicular fortitude to walk away and remain coherent inside the club until closing time. this is why he's the Wild Boar. not to mention his non-stop dance moves and creating the most crackin of the VIP sections in that joint, now that man knows how to enjoy life. happy birthday baby bro!
i had my first performance evaluation at work. the two bosses i've had at my current company gave me pretty good reviews, and i agreed with the things they've said i need to work on (basicaly i need to talk more in meetings, surprise surprise). my current boss actually listed some interesting projects and roles as goals for me to take on this year, and that, combined with the fact that they acknowledge and respect my work, makes me hate my job less.
so in the back of my mind this whole week i've been re-assessing what to do next. stop looking for new media planner jobs? see where "paid search advertising" takes me? sign up for copywriting classes again? it'd be a lot easier if i just knew what i wanted to do with my life.
on a funner note, i watched matt's band open up for pharcyde tomorrow. matt's band had the joint jumpin fa sho. they've come a long way in the last year, and i hope they keep the momentumum going. it was also the first reunion concert for all original pharcyde members, so i can add them after new edition and tribe on the list of great acts i've gotten to see re-united. maybe wu-tang next? i can also cross "passing me by" off the list of sick songs i must see performed live.
well, i've left out a lot of great fucking stuff that happened the past 2 weeks, but i know that if i'm getting bored of writing about myself, you're definitely bored of reading about it. so, til next time.
