ONCE IN A BLUE MOON....

i play a great game of basketball. jumpers fall. i score in the paint. i grab some boards. and i play solid defense against kids who are clearly younger, faster, and more skilled than me. and to ice the cake, my team wins the game thanks to me.

then it doesn't happen again.

for a long, long time. i come back a day or two after playing like a stud, and i'm throwing up bricks and missing easy layups, and i'm getting beat to the basket on defense.

it's not a lack of effort. i huff and puff and keep my focus just as much as the last time, when i was a freakin beastiality. it might depend on who's guarding me, but i know i've sucked even when playing someone who was worse than me. and yes, there are people out there who are worse at the sport of basketball than me.

i can remember clearly the all-star caliber games i had, because they happen so rarely. tonight was one such night. on nights like this, i don't know what to make out of the awesomeness i just displayed, because i'm 99% sure it won't happen again for months.

my only theory for these inconsistent MVP nights is that sometimes the game just rewards you for trying so doggone hard. it wants to remind you that you're not playing to be a nobody every time you're out there.

leave nothing.

sike, i don't know how to end this shit. just wanted to document one of the few nights i scored 6 (by ones) in one game.

happy new year everyone!
