Twenty Ten.

i expected my NYE countdown to be tame since i was spending it with the aunties and uncles and cousins who were mostly below drinking age. but it turned out to be a rockin good time. some of the aunties had the brilliant idea to play silly party games like musical chairs and "the boat is sinking...". hilarity ensued. there was also a little dancing while uncle ben played hype man on the mic. garrr-dan that was funny.

the new year started off right, getting to eat homemade fajitas and watch football with my lovely girlfriend and her family. i'm trying to lose weight this year (yes, a unique and innovative resolution indeed), but that all gets thrown out the window when katrina's mom and the family are cooking.

i spent the rest of the weekend alone in my apartment and loved it. more than enough time to do christmas exchanges/returns, clean up, watch football, and mentally prepare myself for the shitstorms i'm sure to encounter when i get back to work.

sunday i went to a local bar by myself to watch the charger game (wish i had discovered the Backstage in culver city sooner for sundays), and i made my 2010 debut at wooden by getting my ankles twisted by some youngstas.

so much for my resolution to not be clumsy in 2010. monday night i was putting a contact lens in and found out it was torn AFTER it was in my eye and had caused me intense pain and suffering. katrina was a sweetheart and did her best to get the other piece of the lens out of my eye, but it disappeared.

so i saw my optometrist today and she did everything an optometrist does to see if a piece of the lens was floating around my eyeball or under my eyelid somewhere.
*warning: the following sentence are about to get real graphical for ya*
this included flipping my eyelid up, dropping some eye anesthetic in it, placing the end of a cue tip on my eye, closing the eyelid, and moving the cue tip from one side of my eye to the other while under my eyelid. gently scraping the inside of my eyelid and top of the eyeball to make sure that anything hiding up there comes out. she did this about 3 times. i don't go to doctors much, so this is about as freaky of a procedure done on me as i've ever had. my nipples got hard just typing about it. so today's lesson folks: never lose a contact lens, a part or the whole, in your eye.

the verdict? she found nothing. so either katrina got it out yesterday, or i'm gonna be one of those urban legends you hear about the middle-aged man who sneezed and found the piece of a contact lens he lost while in his 20s.

on a positive note, i'm using my now battered and worn-down eye as an excuse to not go to the gym and staying home to do shit like this.

happy new year errbody!
